SUBMISSION
Three Xerox-style copies of the Manuscript, including three high quality laser copies of all illustrations at the proposed publication size, are to be sent to the Editor. Manuscripts submitted with poor quality copies of illustrations will be returned to the author. Send a letter of transmittal, giving: the names and addresses (postal and e-mail) of the author or co-authors and signed by all; the title of the paper; a one or two sentence statement of the main points of the MS; and the names, postal and e-mail addresses of at least two persons outside the author's institution who could act as referees. Revised manuscript submissions should include one hard copy, all original artwork and a final disk copy of manuscript (on IBM-formatted 3½" high density diskettes, although most word-processing packages are acceptable). The Editor will inform author(s) of the acceptance of a manuscript after the revised MS material is received in acceptable form. One set of page proofs will be sent to the corresponding author, and should be returned within 72 hours to the editor.
FORMAT
Papers are to be written in concise, simple English and, in most cases, should be illustrated. Double spacing should be used throughout the MS for the title, abstract, text, references and explanations for illustrations. Leave 30 mm left and right margins; number all pages. Manuscripts must follow Alcheringa format throughout, and submissions must be organised as follows:

ILLUSTRATIONS
High-quality, medium to high contrast, glossy photographs, or line drawings in black ink, mounted on white or black backgrounds (preferably white), are required. Figures are acceptable as digital files, at no less than 300 dpi. PHOTOSHOP files can be supplied in either EPS or TIFF format. ILLUSTRATOR files must have fonts embedded but not the images or pictures as size alteration is difficult. Word and CorelDraw formats are not recommended by our printer.
Illustrations should be grouped economically into Figures of one or two column width (67 mm or 140 mm), up to 200 mm high. Attempt to restrict each Figure to one theme and to group photographs of similar tone. Line drawings may be combined with photographs and authors are encouraged to use arrows or other devices to identify important features. The components of Figures must be designated A, B .. Z; self-adhesive printed lettering is preferred, and do not have lettering outside photographs. Bar scales may be used. Captions will normally be printed below Figures and Tables. Alcheringa will not print foldouts or double page spreads and no diagram is to extend over more than one page. Tables should preferably be drafted or produced electronically at one or two column width (67 mm or 140 mm respectively).
