he First International Palaeontological Congress, sponsored by the International Palaeontological Association, and hosted by the Association of Australasian Palaeontologists and the Macquarie University Centre for Ecostratigraphy and Palaeobiology, took place in Sydney on 6-10 July 2002. Formal sessions were held principally at Macquarie University, and also at the Australian Museum, Sydney.
