Macquarie University Flagship Teaching Grant:
Informatics in Palaeontology (Mawson, Talent, Brock, Nipperess, Cockle, Wilson, Mathieson + 2 staff from Biological Sciences):
A sum of $25,000 was awarded for this flagship proposal in 2000.
The project aim to harness the technology used in BioTrack to teach taxonomic skills in palaeontology and biology and to probe the viability of using BioTrack as a means of curating biologic, palaeontologic and archaeologic materials. In the long term it is hoped that the project will be a corner-stone in the setting up of an interdisciplinary BSc/BA undergraduate program of studies in Museum Studies and Conservation by the development of Informatics Systems for the storage of all types of curatable materials.
