Latin American Palaeontology Conference

ANDREW'S WEB DIARY

girl imageNational Science Week 2005 in Australia is from August 13 to 21, so what better place to go than the other side of the world to the town of Aracaju in the north east of Brazil!

While Australians of all ages get engaged in the annual smorgasbord of science activities around the nation, I was fortunate enough to be invited to Brazil for the XIX Congresso Brasileiro de Paleontologia in combination with the VI Latino-Americano Congesso de Paleontologia. (August 14 to 19).

Conference website:- http://www.exitoeventos.com.br/paleontologia/index2.htm

Around 600 palaeontologists, science educators and museum professionals are expected to attend. So in the pages that follow I hope to share with you what I discover about the burning issues for palaeontology, science education and museums in South America. As a “turista da primeira vez” anything I discover will be an improvement on my current knowledge of the continent that, like Australia, was once a part of the Gondwana jigsaw puzzle!
