  5.   GIS is concerned with the acquistion, analysis and display of spatial data. Before the development of GIS, spatial data was acquired, analysed, and displayed as paper maps. Understanding maps is an important part of using GIS.

    If you are not familiar with maps, you should look at the Map Interpretation and Analysis Package (MIAP) to help you in your studies in this course.

    GEOS264 uses PC Lab ES1. You may use the PC Lab whenever it is not booked for a class session.
