Practical work starts in Week 2 Practicals on: Tuesday am and Thursday am: work on practical projects that focus on the Human Environment. Students in these sessions should purchase the Strand 2 Practical Book. Tuesday pm and Wednesday am: work on practical projects that focus on the Physical Environment. Students in these sessions should purchase the Strand 1 Practical Book. External students can choose which Strand of practical work they wish to do, and then purchase the appropriate practical book. Students should read the introductory material in their practical book before week 2. External students will receive material from Macquarie's COE which will contain software and data, and also installation instructions. If you have received this despatch you are recommended to install the software and data during week 1.

Other notices for GEOS264  Although this website was very useful for providing informaiton to GEOS264 students in past years, Blackboard (the new online learning software) provides an 'Announcements' facility  and this will be used for all future notices and announcments.

This satellite image shows the area around Macquarie University. It is a false colour image which shows strongly growing vegetation as red and cleared areas as light blue (or green). The dark red area in the centre of the scene is the Lane Cove River Park. The Lane Cove River is black and can be seen in the lower right of the image. The bright red areas are golf courses. The light areas are the large buildings in the industrial parks around the university. Macquarie with its mix of buildings and trees is difficult to see, but is on the left of the image.
