NOTICE BOARD
CURRENT NOTICES
The curriculum design of this unit is that of inquiry-based learning. Through both lectures and practicals the class will work together on a set of five projects. As such it varies from GEOS264 which followed a knowledge construction approach to learning.
There is no practical book for this unit. The way this unit is designed is that we will work on these projects as a research team using a common set of data. The lectures will focus on a discussion about how we might undertake the project and the issues involved. From that discussion we will develop the set of tasks that we have to undertake in the practical sessions.
All internal students must read the materials posted for each lecture prior to attending the lecture and be prepared to engage in designing the project. You need to think about and contribute to the discussion on the different GIS tasks we must undertake. In the 3 hour practical that follows the lecture each student will individually undertake those tasks. On some occasions different tasks might be assigned to individuals.
External students also must read the pre-lecture materials posted on this website prior to listening to the ilecture. Then having listened to the ilecture read the information posted on the tasks you must undertake. The posting of these tasks on this website will be by midday each Saturday.
