What types of jobs are there?


Starting salaries are high in the mining and exploration industries but there are many other options, such as:
  • Mining and Exploration Companies
    Exploration, ore deposit evaluation, mine geology,
    management, environmental advising, consulting,
    oil and gas exploration.
  • Environmental & Engineering Geology
    Road, dam, tunnel construction, mines, consulting,
    site remediation, environmental impact studies.
  • Marine Science
    Marine parks authorities, coastal management,
    fisheries departments, sea floor mapping and environmental management.
  • Teaching
    Inspire future generations in early childhood,
    primary and secondary school, TAFE and universities.
  • Public Service/Law (combined Geology/Law degree)
    Social issues, environmental decisions, land rights,
    pollution monitoring, planning and environment.
  • Conservation and Environment
    Soil conservation, National Parks and Wildlife Service,
    land degradation, evaluation, corporate advice,
    Antarctic Territory management.
  • Stock Market
    Analyst, adviser.
  • Research
    CSIRO, Museums, State and Commonwealth
