Bob Fagan researches projects in the fields of economic geography and social theory. His research interests focus on globalisation, local impacts of global economic, social, cultural and political change, and the politics of restructuring in industrialised societies. These interests have led him to explore recent theories of geographical scale and research the impacts of globalisation on:

Agrifood
industries in Australia and the Asia-Pacific Region -
Local
labour markets, especially in those localities vulnerable to high unemployment -
Restructuring
of the Australian industrial relations system and trade unions
He retains a long-standing interest in public policy and the impacts of political discourses of globalisation on social policy in countries like Australia. He has worked as a consultant on regional and local impacts of global change for federal, state and local governments and community groups. He also has a strong interest in geographies of music and popular culture.
