Interested in Postgraduate Research Programs?
The Division of ELS and the Department of Physical Geography aims to present research students with the opportunity to explore their individual research interest as well as the mentorship required to foster high quality projects. ELS is highly regarded for its research achievements with research performance as measured by publications, grants and postgraduate completion rates putting our Division at the forefront of the University. As a strategic aim, we seek to maintain national and international leadership in specific research areas as well as become involved in creative and innovative research partnerships in new areas.
We offer the following postgradute research degrees:
- Doctor of Philosophy
- Master of Philosophy
Choosing a Project and Contacting a Supervisor
To apply for entry to one of our research programs, you will need to have a supervisor within the Department whose own research area is relevant to the research you want to pursue. Academic staff in the Department are actively involved in undergraduate teaching, postgraduate teaching, postgraduate research supervision and staff research projects in:
- atmospheric science
- geomorphology and pedology
- resource and environmental management
Some major research thrusts at present are in the fields of natural hazards, climatic impacts on environment and society, air pollution, climate modelling and boundary layer and applied meteorology.
Have a look at the Physical Geography Research page and the Division's Research Groups and Expertise listings to identify our research areas and associated staff. Please feel free to contact staff members to discuss their research areas and how they could be integrated into your research plans. Prospective research students are then advised to contact the Department's Executive Officer before a formal application is made.
